Maps!!!!
Went for a walk today starting from the centre of Giat - nice to go along a route we don't know, we thought. Turns out we had a longer walk than planned - 3 hours in the end! OK so I know the adage about blaming the tools, but we did have the local IGN map (equivalent to the UK's OS), and we did follow it. But it turns out that the tracks on the map don't match to the tracks marked on the map, so we ended up miles away from where we thought we were, and it was only with the help of a nice young Frenchman on a balcony in a hamlet that we got back onto the right road. We seem to have found a track that wasn't on the map at all! Coluple that with several side-tracks (literally!) that were blocked off by fences, that we suspect may be local farmers' doing, thereby blocking what should be through routes. Not helpful! And that's the second time it's happend with the same map! Aching feet or whato
