A local stroll

Despite the drop in temperature, there was enough us to tempt us out for a walk this lunchtime.  Partof our route was on one of the many forest tracks that snake through the fir plantations all over the Limousin.
The rough surfaces are maintained (this one quite recently), but they can be interesting after heavy rain!  Locals use them a lot for short cuts.
Further on, we went along this beautiful beech avenue:


You often come across huge wood ant hills like this.  There waas still some activity in this one today, though they're slowing down with the onset of the colder weather.
